虎口拔牙

Original title

In February 1945, Wang Tianqiao, a dentist, had planned to leave Shanghai for the interior to escape the war. But on the street he unexpectedly ran into "Field Mouse," a Chinese agent being hunted by the Japanese military police's Special Higher Police. Just before his capture, "Field Mouse" deftly slipped a microfilm into Wang's pocket—this was the "Wisdom Tooth Plan." Half a month later, Pan Shenzhi, a middle school geography teacher who had come to Shanghai from Wuhan to make a living, ran into one trouble after another because he closely resembled "Field Mouse." Before long, Wang Tianqiao and Pan Shenzhi were thrown together by fate, and Wang's wife, Chen Danfeng, and Pan's landlady, A Jin, were gradually drawn into the affair as well, inexplicably becoming agents who were not agents. After repeatedly dealing with the various forces, this group of ordinary people finally made contact with the Chinese Communist underground organization and succeeded in deciphering the microfilm. However, the other part of the "Wisdom Tooth Plan" was already in the hands of the Japanese secret service. When everyone worked together to break the enemy's trap and outwit them to get the other part, it turned out to conceal yet another mystery. After many twists and turns, just as they joyfully obtained the first precious cultural relic, word of Japan's surrender came on the wind, and the War of Resistance Against Japan had finally won victory.
