爱在屋檐下

Original title

In the face of family ties, romantic love, friendship, and a tangled web of emotions, does love lead people toward happiness or push them into the abyss? Can family members be reunited? Can lovers stay together? Is it love that dissolves hatred, or hatred that drowns out family bonds? Everything unfolds in ways no one could anticipate… Five orphans, each adrift in the world, are brought together by love. Though bound by no blood, their bond is stronger than kinship. The eldest brother, Haitian, keeps Grandmother Hai's dying wish close to his heart, determined to bring the family together. The second brother, Haifeng, grew up in a wealthy household, yet the estrangement left him feeling he had no home at all. The third sister, Haiyi, carries the loneliness of her childhood like a shadow she dare not look back on. She devotes herself single-mindedly to pursuing her "American Dream." The fourth sister, Haili, is a gentle girl who shrinks into herself because of her hearing impairment. Only her eldest brother's shoulder feels like a safe harbor of happiness. But when family affection gradually turns into romantic love, she loses the courage to confess—and brothers turn against each other, the family falls into discord. Should her love be allowed to exist at all? The youngest brother, Haiwei, runs away from the orphanage in order to "go home," and ends up a small-time thug drifting through the underworld. Fate toys with them, scattering them in different directions toward vastly different lives. Love pulls them tightly back together—but time has passed, people and circumstances have changed, and the entanglement of love and hate is inescapable.
