夜深沉

Original title

This drama is adapted from the novel of the same title, *Deep Night*, by the renowned writer Zhang Henshui. It is a novel of sentiment that portrays the lives of the lower classes in northern China during the 1920s. With a sharp pen, it reveals the cultural pluralism brought about by the upheavals of that decade, the collision between old and new values, and the struggles, strivings, and helplessness of ordinary people in an era of great change. The story is poignant and heart-rending, with characters whose fates rise and fall unpredictably, reflecting the conditions of life and the emotional inclinations of people in that time.
