Layer by layer, a little-known and earth-shattering inside story is brought to light... A bloody crime shakes Jiangcheng: Public Security Bureau Chief Xu Nuo is shot dead by a mysterious killer known as "Loach." Was it a revenge killing? Or part of a vast conspiracy? Yet this is only the beginning. Soon after, two more lives are lost on Tushan hill, both killed with a single shot. Who could shoot with such deadly precision? Detective Xiao Tianran, who was present at the scene, becomes the prime suspect. Then a string of charges — stealing a gun, rape, and more — falls on Xiao Tianran's head, with every piece of damaging evidence pointing at him, and he finally ends up behind bars. But to prove his innocence, he risks everything by breaking out of prison to find the truth. From then on, he lives life on the run. The police want him, the underworld hunts him, and his fiancee Annie gradually drifts away from him, as Xiao Tianran steps deeper into an endless living hell. It all happens so suddenly and so fast — who could have imagined that a hidden hand inside the police force itself was pulling the strings in the dark. At the same time, there is another person also wandering and struggling in that endless hell: Ou Wen, Xiao Tianran's close friend from their youth at the police academy. As an undercover officer, Ou Wen has spent six years infiltrated under the name Yu Kaili, the adopted daughter of underworld crime syndicate boss Yu Li. But the death of Chief Xu, the only one who could prove her true identity, plunges Yu Kaili into a bottomless abyss. In pain and torn, and to carry on her duty as an undercover officer, she investigates criminal evidence on the one hand, while secretly helping Xiao Tianran escape death again and again on the other. Two people trapped in an endless hell struggle through a thick fog in search of that sliver of light at the exit...
