铜鼓密码

Original title

In 1940, a mysterious bronze drum appeared at an estate in a small French town. The drum came from China and was a sacred totem of the Zhong family of Yongfeng City. Such drums came in male and female pairs. When senior figures in the Kuomintang's Military Statistics Bureau learned of it, they sent Wei Di (played by Dai Chao), chief of the intelligence division, to France to retrieve the drum. By then the Japanese were also eyeing it. After many twists and turns, Wei Di and Na Yuncong (played by Liu Jiehan), daughter of the archaeologist Na Xiangjin, brought the drum back to China, only to discover that Na Xiangjin had died under mysterious circumstances and that the female drum in his collection had vanished. To investigate the cause of Na Xiangjin's death and recover the female drum, Na Yuncong and Wei Di traveled to Yongfeng City. Japanese agents had also infiltrated the city in disguise. With the help of Meng Ayao (played by Li Yanbing), a member of the Zhong family, Wei Di and Na Yuncong thwarted the Japanese agents' plot and uncovered the secret of the bronze drums. Meng Ayao died protecting Na Yuncong. Her sacrifice shook Wei Di and Na Yuncong deeply; inspired by her determination to resist Japan and save the nation and by her revolutionary faith, which embraced death without hesitation, they finally came to understand that only the Communist Party could save China. After paying their respects to Meng Ayao, Na Yuncong and Wei Di took up her dying wish to resist Japan and save the nation and resolutely joined the Communist Party of China.
