青果巷

Original title

Qingguo Lane in Changzhou, Jiangsu, is a thousand-year-old street first built in the late 16th century. At a time of rapid social development, old streets carry invaluable historical value and cultural memory, yet some people, driven by petty personal gain, seek to destroy the millennia-old Qingguo Lane. The unscrupulous businessman Xie Bozhao (played by Tian Shaojun) schemes to demolish Qingguo Lane and build a modern residential complex called "Qingguo Homeland." The returnee painter Wang Geng (played by He Zhengjun) realizes the gravity of the situation and campaigns far and wide, mobilizing every possible social force. To obstruct Wang Geng's "righteous cause," Xie sends his female secretary Qingguo (played by Wang Like) to win him over. But Qingguo instead agrees with Wang Geng and does not hesitate to betray Xie Bozhao. Their shared aspirations and outlook on life bring her and Wang Geng together. The old street is not merely crumbling bricks and broken tiles, abandoned wells and ruined walls; it is also the bonds passed down from generation to generation over centuries, ties that cannot be severed...
