家有儿女新传

Original title

This is a domestic family sitcom released in 2008, consisting of 100 episodes. The story focuses on three elementary school students with strikingly different personalities living in the same residential community, unfolding humorous yet heartwarming slice-of-life stories centered on real-world issues such as grandparent-led parenting, parent-child communication, and growing up at school. The mischievous and quick-witted Tang Xiaolong, whose parents have worked away from home year-round, has been raised by his grandparents since childhood. Their indulgence has made him fond of causing trouble, full of novel schemes, and constantly getting into all kinds of absurd and laughable scrapes. His well-behaved and sensible older cousin Tang Na comes to live with the family; she has excellent grades and is self-disciplined and steady, often keeping the troublemaking Xiaolong in check and offering him guidance, and the collision between the two siblings produces plenty of amusing everyday moments. Xiaolong's two good friends have sharply contrasting personalities: Li Beibei, who comes from a well-off family and is carefully doted on by his parents, is spoiled, timid, and delicate; the carefree Ma Da is honest and simple by nature, loyal and generous, and always tags along with Xiaolong to stir up mischief. The three children play together at school and return home to face different parenting models: in Tang Xiaolong's household, there is tension between his grandparents' indulgence and scientific child-rearing; Li Beibei's family practices high-pressure elite education; and Ma Da's parents are busy making a living and neglect to keep him company. Through one small incident after another in which the children cause trouble, make mistakes, and correct them, the series reveals the parenting dilemmas of different families. Amid lighthearted and comedic plots, it explores how parents and children should get along, the emotional bonds between grandparents and grandchildren, and the pure friendship of childhood, conveying through everyday storytelling a family core of understanding, tolerance, and companionship, full of down-to-earth warmth.
