Original title

The plot centers on a confrontation between an FSB expert analyst and a military officer suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder who is suspected of having been recruited by terrorists. This story combines a gripping intrigue that keeps the viewer in suspense and uncertainty until the very last frame with a complex psychological drama in which the characters must regularly choose between personal and universal human values: patriotism or betrayal, tolerance or religious fanaticism, family or passion. The series begins in 1993. Marine Colonel Alexei Bragin and sniper Yuri Khamzin go missing during a military operation by federal forces in the North Caucasus. Six years later, during a joint special operation by the FSB and GRU special forces in the North Caucasus, a terrorist training camp is destroyed; a bunker is seized, and inside it Bragin is found chained to the wall and covered in a thick beard. The story of the colonel, presumed dead for six years, quickly becomes a media sensation. The liberated Bragin is in severe psychological and physical condition, emaciated by torture and long years of solitary confinement. Doctors and psychologists begin working with Bragin, as does Anna, an expert analyst at the FSB counterterrorism center.
