17-year-old Bret Easton Ellis is in his final year at the elite Buckley prep school. Upending his world is the arrival of a mysterious new student, Robert Mallory, whose unsettling presence coincides with the activities of a serial killer known as The Trawler.
Everyone is Gay, everyone is a girl boss who don't need no man, every straight man is evil, submissive, or idiotic. The honest truth is that we've seen this before, a thousand times since 2016, and the only difference is the title, the checked boxes are exactly the same as all the others and The Message comes before all else, the atmospheric tension is cliche and trite in the worst possible way, not leaning into beloved tropes, but rather early 2010s drama cliches.
Ultimately there isn't anything new here. we've seen it all before over... and over.... and over.... and over again and, frankly, it's exhausting. I could care less.
