The cinematography betraying the lyrics, or...the editing, indebted to the script; What is a fact is that the dystopian plot that would engage the viewer psychologically and philosophically does not do so because of two problems with this film: (a) the poverty or indolence in the quality of the special effects, and (b) for the crazy idea of gluing the plot of at least 3 or more Bradbury stories into a single narrative thread. The result is a lack of cohesion. For (a) there is no need to go into too much detail, compare the photomontages of the lions in the video game room or nursery where the Stone family enjoys themselves; picturesque? maybe but as I said, they are terribly shocking images -in quality- because they seem like they were shot on a VHS tape instead of showing off as they suppose in the work, like a kind of immediate virtual reality that terrifies Michael Stone and his wife Linda like to wake them up, and which quickens the pulse and to which their children, especially the evil Peter, are addicted. And By (b) we find premises of Martian Chronicles, with 3 other stories including The pedestrian, when a patrol stops for no reason a guy who was simply walking and is inspected in his readings and ideology, which crystallizes in the detention of Michael Stone himself when he is arrested and beaten by what I would call the Martians or extraterrestrials, already uniting three stories, or by the members of a fascist State that, in order to maintain a society free of violence and vices, has tied up to society physically and mentally to a regime that has made its dictatorial impositions of human control counterproductive.
It is very rarely noticed that the majority of geniuses such as Ballard or Ray Bradbury himself, left behind a work that was ahead of its time but whose argument is said -disseminated- in their different works, and not as noted here. scrambled into one. That is to say, the social cancer that we are experiencing today with respect to the dependence on images and videos (Homovidens said Giovanni Sartori) and in general on the media increasingly paralyzes practical activities and human cultural patterns, which is why we see the addiction of the son by Michael Stone, Peter learned to modify the images of the game or video room and when his father wants to confirm his condition, the boys show him pagodas and tranquility like those teenagers who hide the pornography page or site and we can only notice how If you saw the Discovery Chanel, for example. Another feature of a fascist State is the deportation and elimination of individuals who "disappear", which crystallizes in the Martians or aliens who take people and replace them with the fisherman's son Hernando and his blind wife, but they They realize that he is not their son even though he reinforces that he is 14 years old.
